All woods must be clean of any foreign material including paint, stain or varnish and would should be stained twice in the same season. Previously coated wood should be sanded or stripped before applying. If sanding use between a 40-60 grit paper, random orbit sanders should be used, do not use a belt sander. Remove any sanding dust and then coat within 24 hours of sanding, only coat what you have sanded. Sunshield Dexall may require 2 coats in some instances depending on wood porosity and saturation. Ideally, two thinner coats will provide best results on most surfaces, however certain wood surfaces may only need 1 coat if there is uniformity. If applying a second coat, wait until first coat is dry to the touch, this may vary depending on air temperature and weather conditions. Product can be applied with brush, roller, or sprayer. If applying with roller or sprayer, back brushing must be done to remove excess pooling of product. Stir constantly while applying. Always coat the entire length of a board in order to avoid lap marks which will make the coating appear darker. Apply in temperatures above 5 degrees Celsius and below 28 degrees Celsius. Do not apply in direct sunlight, follow the shade while coating or apply early morning and late afternoon if no shade or cloud is present.
